  • You have injured your mouth accidentally:

If you are more than 10-years-old and have completely adult teeth, then you should not notice loose teeth in your mouth. It may happen when you encounter an accident or have fallen. In such situations, several teeth or a single tooth would become loose. If you are experiencing trauma, contact the dentist immediately. If you have experienced a fall, visit the emergency room. Also, call your dentist and inform them how it happened. Request your dentist to treat you at the emergency room. Before starting the treatment, the dentist would evaluate and determine whether the jaw is broken.

  • Pain:

Some of the common dental emergencies cause a certain level of discomfort or pain. The degree of discomfort and pain define how to handle it. For example, if you are experiencing severe pain while biting down, then it could be because of grinding the teeth or due to cracked teeth. It could also be due to the abscess. Are you experiencing mild pain? If so, you can take over the counter medications like Tylenol to reduce swelling and pain. Apply an ice pack, especially on the sensitive parts. Ensure to approach a dentist in one or two days to get it checked completely. If you suspect a cracked tooth, you should not bite or chew till you meet a dentist. But if the pain is extreme, you have to visit the ER or contact a dentist immediately.

  • Tooth sensitivity:

If you feel sensations while consuming extreme temperatures, you should avoid such foods for some time. It is not an emergency issue and does not require immediate dental attention. To eliminate or calm down sensitivity, you can purchase over the counter toothpaste. It aids in a great way in reducing sensitivity. But if the sensitivity is not calmed even after a day or two, you have to get it examined by a dentist. Some people use toothpaste and do not go for a dental checkup. It is a bad move. If you are noticing even slight sensitivity, you should schedule a dental checkup.

Some of the other common dental issues that do not require emergency dental treatment are mouth sores, abscessed gums, infections, etc.
