Know about the Wheelbarrow tires and Wheelbarrow types

Wheelbarrow

A wheelbarrow serves as an important asset to most gardeners. Owning the right type with appropriate wheel tires makes a lot of difference in the gardening tasks. Here is a brief guide about various wheelbarrow tires and wheelbarrow models. We have also explained more here about their positives and negatives.

Types of wheelbarrow tires

Pneumatic: It consists of an internal air-filled tube where you need to fill as a bicycle tire. The act serves as a shock absorbed and offers a smooth experience overall. It is mostly useful when wheeling over rocks or on stairs. The main disadvantage of this type is the air pressure has to be determined and preserved regularly. If you do not maintain, there are chances for it to get flat.

Non-Pneumatic: It does not get flat as it is made up of solid rubber tires without an air tube. It is useful for rough terrain and does not require much maintenance. It has chances to pop when you work in regions where there is a lot of cactus or in regions of extreme temperatures. It performs just equal to the pneumatic tire but the only difference is it does not go flat.

Semi-Pneumatic: It is wheels with inbuilt air pockets. It offers certain shock absorption similar to pneumatic tires, so you do not have to bother about inflating air into them.

Number of wheels

Two wheels: It is almost like a garden cart. Double wheels offer more constancy than the single wheel. It remains useful, especially for unbalanced or heavy loads. But two wheels are not as convenient as one wheel. If you are hauling loads across the inclined surface, it remains inconvenient to use. With a single wheel, it will not be a problem.

One wheel: it is a classic model. One wheel wheelbarrow is simple to use and convenient to dump. However, it requires sufficient upper body strength which garden type or two-wheel type does not require.

Material type

Plastic: It is light in weight and remains convenient for load transportation. It is ideal for moderate garden work. As it is made up of plastic it does not have a long life. It will not be tough like metal. It costs less and does not rust like metal. If you are thinking that you can save money by purchasing plastic wheelbarrows, you should know that it would not last more than five to ten years. You have to again spend another wheelbarrow. Therefore, it is recommended to buy a steel wheelbarrow.

Steel: It can handle heavy and light tasks. It is popular as it lasts for years. Steel is tough and would not get damaged when exposed to fall or cold apart from tossing it with heavy loads. Metal has chances for rusting, so it can be evaded by repainting and preserving the wheelbarrow from various elements that cause rusting. Remember, though it is rusty it can perform exceptionally well. But cracked or damaged plastic wheelbarrow remains useless. The only drawback in steel is it is heavy and you need to put upper body strength to make it function.
